The Eden to Addo Corridor Initiative is a non-profit organisation from the Garden Route of South Africa passionate about establishing and conserving living corridors between natural areas for ecosystem integrity, water security and sustainable livelihoods. These corridors follow the ancient migratory paths of elephants, the original pathmakers, and will restore the ecological balance of the region upon which many communities depend. Our team consists of a handful of dedicated environmentalists and the very important links we have formed with landowners, communities and conservation partners over the last 8 years.
The vision is to link three mega reserves, the Garden Route National Park in the Western Cape, the Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve and Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape. The region is unique since it is home to five distinct biomes: Fynbos, Coastal Forest, Nama Karoo, Sub Tropical Thicket, and Succulent Karoo and is possibly the most bio diverse area worldwide.
We offer a yearly 400km Great Corridor Hike in September, The Eden to Addo 500km MTB Tour in August, as well as shorter guided hikes throughout the year. Funds raised from these adventures further the work of establishing and conserving these living corridors.
Eden to Addo partners with the Site Specific LandArt Biennale in Plettenberg Bay and is creating a LandArt route to highlight the beauty within the corridors.
