Plettenberg Bay is a perfect niche for birders – our diverse and magnificent habitats set the scene for a unique opportunity to establish the Plett Birding Route. Local community guides will be empowered to offer visitors to the area the opportunity to discover our endemic, pelagic, raptor, wader, forest and fynbos species of birds. They will work with specialist birding guides to encourage ongoing learning and expertise.
Adding to this, and creating a globally unique birding route, is a partnership with Site_Specific Land Art. Site_Specific has adopted birding as their theme for 2014/2015 and local and international artists will construct bird hides using natural materials, providing employment and training for local community members. And this will offer the amazing opportunity to view birds from within artworks that speak to the essence of birds and birders
