The Maboneng Township Arts Experience

The Maboneng Township Arts Experience is a social entrepreneurship, tourism organisation that trains and works together with families and artists to convert their homes into art galleries. Our tours are aimed at art enthusiasts and people who are passionate about sustainable projects. Our tours are not only open to international tourist but to locals as well. Our experience lets you be a part of township life.

A bit on our tours:

We offer a short walking tour around the township, looking for various graffiti pieces that have been painted by local and international graffiti artists. We then visit our gallery homes, meeting home owners and the artists. Our artist also hosts an art workshop and our visitors are able to take a piece of the tour back home. We end the tour with a traditional home cooked meal that they enjoy in the back yard of one of our gallery homes, some ginger beer and popular jazz tunes from the 70s and 80s that truly personify township life and culture.
