I write a Blog called Our Greenish Life – which is my family’s journey towards going greener. Having lived in Vancouver, Canada for almost 5 years (and birthing both our boys there), the move towards going green was very natural. After returning to South Africa a year ago, blogging was a way of continuing the conversation of how to intentionally go green in a less-green environment.
Daily, I am changing cloth nappies, ensuring there are 5 food groups and an array of colours on my families’ lunch and dinner plates, nursing my littlie, watering homegrown plants, listening to ‘African Treehouse’ in the car (over and over and ooooover), trying to get outside for a run, kissing owies, refereeing sibling squabbles and picking up crayons.
Our family is beautiful but real, flawed and hopeful.
Join me and my clan as we rethink how we live, and do our best to be better.
(Practically)…
Day by day, I’m trying to rethink how to be greener. From using re-useable shopping bags, to borehole water, to making my own baby products, to paraben free bubble bath and sunscreen for my kids. I’m on the hunt to save electricity and water, find sustainable ways to live.
By growing our own food, recycling and composting, supporting local companies who share my vision, encouraging the use of the menstrual cup, natural doula-supported births we’re slowly trying our best to undo all the harm we’ve created over many years… and I’m encouraging others to join me!
